✝️ IF YOU WANT TO LIVE LIKE JESUS IN TRUMP’S AMERICA
By Janet Kira Lessin, CEO, Aquarian Media
If you want to live like Jesus in our “Christian” nation, here’s what you need to do: Feed the hungry. Welcome the stranger. Care for the sick. Love without fear.
The Bible’s message could not be clearer. Every prophet, psalmist, and disciple spoke of mercy and justice as the accurate measure of righteousness. Yet today, many who call this a Christian nation are cheering policies that do the opposite — cutting food programs, demonizing immigrants, and dismantling humanitarian aid.
Christ never called for cruelty. He fed multitudes, healed the sick, and said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If we truly want to live like Jesus, we must follow His example, not the example of those who mock His mercy.
🍞 If You Want to Live Like Jesus, Feed the Hungry
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.” — Matthew 25:35
Feeding the poor isn’t charity — it’s the cornerstone of faith. When politicians slash SNAP, America’s food-assistance lifeline, they are cutting directly against Christ’s command. When they block food aid to the world’s starving through dismantling USAID, they are silencing the very Gospel they claim to defend.
Jesus multiplied bread and fish; He didn’t take them away. He blessed the table; He didn’t overturn it to score political points.
Modern Example: In 2025, as food prices rise and millions of children rely on school lunches for survival, proposed cuts to nutrition programs threaten to leave families hungry. This is not Christian governance — it’s sanctioned starvation.
If you want to live like Jesus, feed His children.

🤝 If You Want to Live Like Jesus, Welcome the Stranger
“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. Love them as yourself.” — Leviticus 19:33–34
Jesus Himself was a refugee, fleeing violence with Mary and Joseph. So when we reject immigrants and asylum seekers, we reject Him. A “Christian” nation that builds walls and cages children betrays the Holy Family it claims to honor.
The true mark of faith isn’t border security; it’s heart security.
Modern Example: At America’s southern border, thousands of families wait in limbo — many mothers clutching infants as they sleep on cold concrete floors. Political leaders call them “invaders,” forgetting that Jesus was once a child refugee too.
If you want to live like Jesus, welcome the stranger.
THE HOLY FAMILY AT THE BORDER

💖 If You Want to Live Like Jesus, Care for the Poor and Sick
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” — Psalm 82:3
Jesus didn’t demand ID or insurance before healing. He never once asked who deserved His compassion. He touched lepers, lifted beggars, and blessed the brokenhearted.
When leaders dismantle healthcare or stigmatize the needy, they reject His example. If you want to live like Jesus, defend those who have no one to defend them.
Modern Example: The closure of hospitals in rural America leaves thousands without access to basic care. Politicians who vow to “protect life” are silent when the poor can’t afford insulin.
THE HEALER’S HANDS
⚖️ If You Want to Live Like Jesus, Practice Justice “Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.” — Amos 5:24
Justice is love in action. It’s the measure of a people’s soul — not by how loud they pray, but by how kindly they act. Jesus overturned tables when the temple was corrupted by greed. He spoke truth to the powerful and lifted the voiceless.
Modern Example: As billionaires pay less tax than teachers and corporations profit from war, faith leaders stay silent. But Jesus didn’t serve the empire — He served truth.
If you want to live like Jesus, stand up for justice — even when it’s inconvenient.
THE TABLES OVERTURNED
A Christian nation’s greatness isn’t measured by its military might but by its mercy. When the United States slashes aid that feeds millions abroad, we dim the light of compassion that once defined us. Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the good news.” Good news is not delivered through hunger and neglect.
Modern Example: Following recent foreign-aid cuts, humanitarian workers in Africa and the Middle East report children dying of hunger within sight of silos of unused grain. America was once the hand that fed — now, too often, it is the hand that withholds.
If you want to live like Jesus, let your compassion cross borders.
LIGHT OF COMPASSION
🕊️ If You Want to Live Like Jesus, Choose Love Over Fear
“Perfect love casts out fear.” — 1 John 4:18
Fear is the enemy of faith. It blinds the heart and silences compassion. MAGA politics thrives on fear — fear of difference, fear of loss, fear of change. But Jesus taught love over fear, abundance over scarcity, community over division.
Modern Example: When politicians demonize LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, or the poor, fear becomes policy. But love, not fear, is the mark of true discipleship.
If you want to live like Jesus, love louder than fear.
LOVE OVER FEAR
Conclusion: Live the Gospel, Not the Grift
You cannot serve both Christ and cruelty. You cannot praise Jesus on Sunday and persecute His people on Monday.
America’s test isn’t whether it calls itself Christian, but whether it acts like it.
“By their fruits you will know them.” — Matthew 7:16
If you want to live like Jesus — feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, defend the poor, and love without condition. That’s not politics. That’s discipleship.
